WikiLeaks: Barzani family controls the Kurdistan oil

(IraqiNews.com) ‘Wikileaks’ website published a document quoting some US officials in Iraq saying that President Massoud Barzani’s family controls the Kurdistan region oil, and that is the reason behind not authorizing discussions about the oil file for Barham Salih in 2010; who was the Prime Minister of the region at the time, before Ashti Hawrami was appointed.

As stated in the document, Barham Saleh wanted to keep Ashti Hawrami away from his position in the Ministry of oil and Natural Resources, but he failed.

On the other hand, President of the Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani confirmed that the oil agreement between Baghdad and Erbil is a beginning, not a final agreement.
